The first reason that you could be experiencing gum pain is that there is food stuck between your teeth. If food gets stuck between your teeth for an extended period of time it could cause decay which will ultimately cause some pain. Another cause of gum pain could be gingivitis. Gingivitis causes your gums to be inflamed and turn red. A cause of this is not having good oral hygiene. If gingivitis is left untreated it could turn into periodontitis. Periodontitis is when the inflammation in your gums causes them to separate from the tooth. When your gums start to separate small pockets begin to form.

A lot of the causes of gum pain can be avoided if you keep good oral hygiene. This means that you get into the routine of brushing and flossing your teeth every day. If you start making good habits now you will save yourself some trouble in the future.
